Newsletter: Resilience & invite to tomorrow’s house concert w/ Evie Ladin Band :)
QUALITY VIBE BLAST
Hello Beautiful People!
Leaning into joy when we’re navigating the painful realities of what humans are capable of has been feeling especially important lately. A recent example I’d like to share is this interview with Maya Alper, a survivor of the recent Hamas attack on attendees of a music festival.
The brave manner (hiding in a bush while deep breathing, meditating, smiling, focusing on gratitude and making just-in-case videos for loved ones) with which Maya faced the trauma as it was occurring perfectly exemplifies what principles guide me. My ask is that you watch or listen to it when you have some peace and quiet. I look forward to hearing what you think, if/when you would like to share.
In the meantime, please don’t underestimate the powerful influence you have by being mindful and joyous. Persist, against all odds if need be, with giving yourself the time and space you need to indulge in whatever floats your boat. Joy is one of the more essential components of resilience after all, as well as a radical act beautiful gift to others.
If you’re someone like me who is no stranger to dark feels and has to pull herself off the floor (figuratively and literally) from time to time, I’d like to also share this Spotify playlist entitled "songs to survive / thrive by". I’ve been adding to and benefiting from it the last 7 years. It’s also tattooed on my left arm, which may be of interest if you’ve ever wondered but hesitated to ask about. My hope is there’s a song or two in there somewhere that helps you as it has me. If not, and/or if you haven’t already, maybe consider making your own go-to playlist for inspiration so it’s ready when you need it most.
Connecting deeply with friends, family and other community members is another essential ingredient of resilience. It’s also how I respond to the transactional aspects of our culture that tend to distress and distance us from one another. Believe it or not I’m fairly introverted so hosting can be rewarding but draining when I don’t have the energy or time to spare. This is partially why I’ll be pausing my house concerts for a while so I can focus more on my wellness and articulating the financial feminist principals I believe in so passionately.
Another ask I have is that, if you’re local and available, you join me for tomorrow’s (Sunday) house concert featuring Evie Ladin Band with Keith Terry and Erik Pearson. It’s sure to be a lively feel-good gathering, and I have lots of heartfull hugs to give, if you’re in the mood.
More information about tomorrow’s house concert and other upcoming events I’m organizing between now and the end of the year can be found here on my website. Please check those out and spread the word (old-school but effective) to locals you think might be interested.
Lastly, if you’re a grass roots sort of person who likes to help out, please consider volunteering your time at one of my upcoming events or others like them. It’s a wonderful way to contribute and engage. There are always several ways to pitch in as well as valuable relationships to nurture.
Thats it from me for now. I’m grateful for you taking time to read and consider what I’m sharing. No worries if you want/need to unsubscribe by the way. I sincerely understand there’s only so much energy to go around and am a fan of silencing distractions that don’t align with what will best help you be your best and healthiest self.
Take care and stay true!
Winter :)
