More about the Artists
August Lee Stevens is an emerging Bay Area-based musician and singer-songwriter with an atmospheric range of Alternative Soul and Folk. Her dynamic sound merges the lyrical rawness and simplicity of Folk songs with the lush melodies and vocals of Neo Soul. A lover of storytelling, she uses music to cut into the heart, inviting people to look in on some of her most intimate moments. Her music showcases that there is strength that comes from vulnerability and through the sharing of music hopes to provide the backdrop to the more delicate moments of life.
August is a recipient of the Local Sirens Residency with Women’s Audio Mission and her debut EP “Better Places’ was met with great review. The EP has been featured on TEDx, KQED, KALW and many other local stations.
You can find her latest releases and performance on her website and all social media platforms.

When he’s not fronting local Santa Cruz band Wolf Jett, Chris stays true to his folk, soul and country blues roots. Born in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, his voice is smooth as Tennessee whiskey and his guitar pickin’ cuts from Chet Atkins to Keith Richards in no time.
As versatile a musician as you will find, Chris is able to seamlessly intertwine classic and obscure covers with his seemingly timeless originals. He can play to any crowd under any circumstances, and he’s proven it time and time again, whether busking the streets of Europe, or touring the sweatiest clubs and hushed house parties across this good ol’ USofA.
He currently performs with a vintage hollowbody electric through a small tube combo amplifier, but he’s equally at home on acoustic. No gimmicks, no tricks, just straight vocals and guitar with a few stories in between. He has recently opened for Arcadian Wild, Brett Dennen, Cedric Burnside, Wayne “The Train” Hancock, Coco Montoya and Waylon Payne. He has performed solo at the Saratoga Mountain Winery Garden Stage, KC Turner Presents, and Felton Music Hall. He frequently does covers by Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, Otis Redding, Van Morrison, Bob Marley, and Neil Young, to name a few.

Esotérica Tropical, a queer Boricua bruja, defies boundaries with her show-stopping voice, intuitive folk harp, Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba rhythms, and electronic innovation. Her music challenges colonial mentality while championing sovereignty and surrealism. Her self-titled, debut album, Esotérica Tropical, will release in 2024.
Destiny bestowed a Celtic harp upon her on a Puerto Rican beach, sparking her transformation from an acupuncturist into a genre blurring musical magician. Her ritualistic and transformative performances have graced renowned venues internationally, including Oakland Museum, MACLA, Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, The Chapel, Teatro Municipal de Cusco, Festival Color Caribe, and Brava Theater. In 2022, she released a collaboration with Argentinian producer Chancha Via Circuito on his highly anticipated album "La Estrella" on Wonderwheel Recordings. Her single “Realismo Mágico” features indie powerhouse Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards.
Esotérica Tropical’s music embodies freedom and resistance in times of struggle, transforming the scars of living within an endless crisis into a beautiful, celebratory, and deant experience.

The rhythm section takes its cues from the soulful sounds of the MG’s, the Meters, the JB’s, and the rhythm sections of the Atlantic, Hi and Fame labels. In addition to their original material, the Traps are crate diggers as well, breathing new life into lost grooves culled from rare funk 45’s and obscure oft-sampled records.

Armed with a blend of new tunes and cherished favorites that are sure to get you dancing, singing, and embracing the joy of the moment. This powerhouse of talent features Tony Glaser on bass, Ben Misterka on guitar, Kevin Coleman on drums, Simon Rochester on keys, Omar Leyva on percussion, and Mike Myers on sax.
Gitkin

More about the artists:
Tenacious, innovative string musicians, the Evie Ladin Band – Evie Ladin, Keith Terry and Erik Pearson – throws down captivating, truly entertaining live shows. Grounded in Appalachian old-time repertoire, seasoned in African-diaspora roots, writing from life in modern cities, blurring the lines between music and dance, the polyrhythmic heat of Evie’s clawhammer banjo, resonant voice, real stories and rhythmic dance have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Brazil to Bali. Based in Oakland for decades, their performance experience is a stand-out. Following their fourth release of adventurous originals Caught On A Wire and Evie’s first totally trad fiddle/banjo duets Riding the Rooster – the band released an EP of funky covers Playing our Hand.
“A truly original sound in new old-time Americana,” says Roots, while Pop Matters says “Ladin possesses a keen songwriting sense and a stable of strong musicians to back her up.“

Ukulenny & The Big Gator
Looking forward to hosting another quality vibes potluck and indoor house concert, this time featuring Lenny San Jose aka Ukulenny & Bob Frazier aka The Big Gator.
Please text 510-288-7918 asap with questions and/or to rsvp. The location is near Lake Temescal in Oakland, CA and will be provided with confirmation of the rsvp.
Doors open at 12:30pm and music starts at 1pm. Admission is $10-20 (sliding scale) per guest and free for kids under 12. Potluck participation is optional.
More about the artists...
Lenny San Jose aka Ukulenny is a ukulele performer and educator based in Oakland, CA. After training to be a music teacher at UC Berkeley, he began his ukulele journey in 2009 on the BART train, serenading unsuspecting commuters and leading full out sing-alongs. He proceeded to work as a full time music teacher for 5 years, at Oakland School for the Arts and Berkeley Unified School District, and continued to nurture his budding ukulele stardom on YouTube (77,000 subscribers!) and within the ukulele community. Today he continues to spread the ukulele gospel along with Kala Brand Music, performing and leading jams in festivals nationwide. When he’s not in duo mode, he plays frequently with ukulele supergroup U3 (Cynthia Lin, Abe Lagrimas Jr.), and Ukulenny and Dos Pogi Boys (Jerome Sicat, David Kelly-Tuason).
Bob Frazier aka The Big Gator is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, music producer, and educator. Shortly after living in the band room in his hometown of Lakeland, Florida, the 77th US Army Band brought him to San Pedro, CA. So his illustrious career as a trumpet player began, working as a studio musician in LA, playing with the likes of Big Joe Turner, Little Richard, Danny Elman (yes, Sir Bob was indeed a Mystic Knight of the Oingo Boingo), Doug Carn, and many more. He served as musical director of the Johnny Otis Big Band, touring from the Chitlin’ Circuit to Europe, and even landing a Carnegie Hall date with Etta James and Dr. John on the bill. Bob holds a BFA from the California Insitute of the Arts, and
Fast forward to 2009 when the Bob and Lenny Show was born. The world would never be the same. Bob and Lenny were both part of the nonprofit Music National Service, that injected Music Teaching Artists into public schools. Bob being a veteran teacher of over 40 years was teaching the new fish Lenny how to swim, and eventually lunchtime jams turned into a beautiful musical partnership. The unlikely, eclectic duo performs their unique mix of blues, R&B, reggae, and island vibes music, and never fails to put smiles on faces.
When he’s not gardening and cooking up a storm, Mr. Bob is an Artist-in-Residence at his original Music National Service placement, Sequoia Elementary School in Oakland, teaching Music Theory, Band, and West African Drumming Circles to TK-5 grades.
Lenny continues to teach ukulele privately, in public jam sessions in Alameda, and online via Patreon.com/Ukulenny.
